SONGS FOR WORK & PLAY

This music is a distillation of my time farming in the Hudson Valley of New York. During that time I detected a latent funkiness amongst the people around me that I'm trying to draw out with these tunes. It's my hope that the music gets under your skin and sticks with you as you go about your day.

This music is meant to be a contemporary take on the old tradition of work songs. Work-songing has been around as long as there's been work to do and people to sing as they do it. More specifically, this music is meant to be a testament to the spirit of farming and of the folks among us that grow the food. I noticed that there wasn't a lot of music out there that celebrates this lifestyle, though is most worth celebration. So all of you agrarians out there, this is for you. Keep on doin' it.

Track Name: Hands Dirty, Baby
Get your hands dirty, baby
And your shirt too.
It’s the land that’s the jury, baby
Of the way we do the things we do
Get your feet wet, baby
Are those boots waterproof?
Put your style on it, baby
Track Name: Behold My Friend
Behold my friend as you pass by
As you are now so once was I
As I am now so you must be
Prepare for death and follow me

One hundred feet walk past my bed
One hundred feet are slowly led
And fifty hearts will someday rest
And fifty hearts hope to be blessed

So let’s go and soar before we sink
Living always on the brink
And living now but for how long?
One more reason I’m singing this song

So what will you decide to let
Take you to that other shore
The sauce, a cause, a cigarette
That knocks and opens up the door
Track Name: We Grow The Food- A Medicine Anthem
We grow the food, the food
The food of the nation, the whole wild creation
We will get down, on that fertile ground
Because we love to work it out, and sing our tune

We got the remedy, the remedy
Remedy of the nation, the whole wild creation
We will get down, on that fertile ground
Because we love to work it out, and sing our tune

We keep the animal, the animal,
Animal of the nation, the whole wild creation
We will get down, on that fertile ground
Because we love to work it out, and sing our tune
